Hi,
Is there any option in AX 2012R3 that allows depreciation proposals/plans for an asset with negative net book value?

Hi S.,
Test entering a negative expected scrap value in the value model. AX will then depreciate even fixed assets with a negative book value.
Best regards,
Ludwig
Hi Ludwig,
Thanks for your response.
With a negative expected scrap value, the depreciation proposal/plan feature does work. However, with a negative acquisition value that makes NBV becomes negative, the feature doesn't function.
The 'trick' with the negative book value actually works also for a fixed asset that has a negative book value as Long as the negative expected scrap value is larger.
Probably try recording a negative acquisition value of -100000 and an expected scrap value of -120000 and you should see deprecation amounts posted for the 20000 difference.
I am wondering what business requirement lies beneath your request? Could you explain a bit more on that?
Hello,
An old thread, but we are also exploring this. We receive capital contributions from landlords which we would like to release at the same time as the assets. One suggestion has been to reduce the value of an asset by the contribution amount - however sometimes we have multiple small assets, and the capital contribution is larger than the biggest asset - hence it goes into negative.
I will try the negative scrap value suggestion and let everyone know.
