Management Reporter 2012 column definitions locked when report is scheduled

ReportReport

Hi,

When we schedule a report for deployment to SharePoint, and a user tries to edit a column definition of that report, we recevie the message that the column "is locked by use in one or more schedules, do you want to open in read only mode?”.

Is this by design? Does making a user administrator in Management Reporter allow us to get around this? If users can't edit reports that are scheduled, we aren't going to be able to schedule them.

Thanks!

Hi there, I'm actually having problems finding the option to delete an individual schedule as I'm also need to allow someone else access to my report.  Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I tried to vote for this issue but voting is closed.  I take it with your latest post Michael and no follow-on updates that this is our only choice, delete schedule?  I'll follow this conversation in hopes it gets updated when the solution is provided.

    Hello all,

I just voted for the product suggestion on connect and hope everyone else that reads this will to do the same. I don't see any workarounds listed, beyond the obvious choice of deleting the schedule, making your changes and then creating a new schedule. Has anyone found a more appealing alternative?

    Thanks,

    Mike

I'm seeing the same behavior in Management Reporter 2.1.1037.12. Even a disabled schedule will lock building blocks. We have to delete and recreate schedules when a user other than the schedule owner needs to make a tweak.

    Added as an enhancement request:

We have a client who is having difficulty with the building blocks being locked by scheduled reports.  I would like to be able to send them something from MBS as far as documentation regarding this feature, if it was designed to behave in this manner.  It does make sense that the report building blocks would get locked so that the scheduled report would always be generated with the same exact building blocks and could not get errantly modified by another user.

Does anyone have any information on this 'locking' functionality?
