    Any particular error message?

Other than that, probably something along these lines: delete from unmanaged in dev, then export as managed, then deploy to prod..

yes, I deleted in dev. and should I clone this solution and export as a managed solution then import into the target one?

    A patch can't delete anything:

    technet.microsoft.com/.../mt628808.aspx

You'll likely have to export/import complete solution

yes, that is what I did, but still get the error, since the relationship exists in prod while it gets deleted in dev, and when I import in prod, it gives me error.

Delete That relationship from the default solution and then package a new managed solution from dev to target environment.  This way you can remove the custom relationship

is it the same as removing a component from a managed solution? I clone a solution not clone patch
