I need to update one specific record from multiple entities via synchronous workflows (multiple entities demanding change - multiple workflows).
It is possible that two or more workflows will be triggered at the same time.
Will the workflows execute simultaneously or will only one of them update the record and the others fail/wait?

It won't interfere, however predicting the WF execution sequence is difficult. Try to explain your scenario with an example for accurate answer.
Whenever an entity is being updated, it's happening in the SQL transaction, so, at that moment, the worfklows won't be interfering. In theory, I'm guessing if both workflows arrive at the "update" step at around the same time, one of them may have to wait for the other to finish the update step first.. So they might be interfering in the sense that some conditions might evaluate differently once the first "update" has finished, however, the second workflow wouldn't be re-evaluating those conditions, it would just proceed to its own update step
No they wont interfere with each other.
That wasn't the question - will multiple synchronous workflows (trying to change the same record) interfere with each other?
