How to configure SMTP on OneBox VM?

Hello,

I tried to configure SMTP on my OneBox virtual machine, but I get a message error:

A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

I enter the data correctly and it should work. For some reason it doesn't. Can anyone suggest something?

    Hi Shooowtek,

    which mail service you are using ( Office 365, google, on-premises solution, etc)? 
    have you allowed ports ( 587 or 465 depending on your mail service ) through firewalls?

    Hi,

    For local testing on Tier 1 environments, I use a local SMTP server and client app called PaperCUT. You just unzip it and run the .exe on the VM desktop or whereever. The SMTP server host name parameter in D365 Finance is "localhost" with port 25. No authentication required. Works like a charm.

    How to install it step by step? Which assets should be implemented?

    The Papercut.Smtp.x64.6.2.0.zip file should work fine. Just unzip it somewhere and run Papercut.exe. Remember to unblock the zip file after it downloads.
