Closing year 2013 - Year-end update

Recently, we were made aware that Microsoft will not support GP version 10.0 with this years Year-end update. In other words, we'll need to upgrade to version 2010 (11) in order to process our year-end which sounds ridiculous. A company should not be required to upgrade software to close their books for a year.

Is this true? Is the year end update even required to close a fiscal year? Isn't the year-end update just updating payroll tax tables?

I'll like to get an answer to this ASAP.

This is Terry and I can help you today.

I understand your concern and we have noted this since last year end stating 2012 year end was the last one that would release for 10. This is on the lifecycle page as well as the year end update and tax update pages, example below

Now, with that saying, I think we should take a step back and look at the changes. Do you really need the update?

I have all the changes published on the 2010 or 2013 pages if you want to take a look.

If the changes impact your business, then yes we should upgrade.

The year end close will not fail if you are not on the patch, you can stlil close the year, but I would review the changes and see how it impacts your business and how you are using the product.
