Hi friends,

i have a query, i have posted invoice journal, now when i go to journal, open and simply closed the it, without doing anything, there is one field "modified by" it is keep on changing who soever will open his id is coming.

My question is why it is changing for the posted journal, and also if the user just open and close haven't modify anything, it is changing.

Why it is like this...

    Hi Imran,

Invoice journal is a ledger journal under the hood.

Each time you open ledger journal AX updates session id to show that it is blocked (Red cross in In Use field on journal header), this triggers update of modifiedDateTime and modifiedBy fields. This happens for posted and not posted journals.

    Thanks Ievgen for your reply.

Is it possible that the modified field get freeze once the journal is posted.

    Please advise

    Hi Imran,

This is not possible as this ModifiedDateTime field is managed by the kernel. (Probably a skipEvents or similar command can do the trick, but I don't recommend a customization) There is a Posted date on the journal. In addition there is an Audit trail which will tell you the exact date/time a transaction was posted in addition with who did it.

    Thanks Andre for your reply.

But i believe in this situation system will give the wrong information, it will give the user id for the worker who had just open the journal lines and even he open the journal which is posted. And it is difficult to convince the client or user on this.

I think you are looking at wrong fields, as Andre mentioned there is dedicated field to store posted date time and you need to tell users to use it instead of modifiedDateTime.

However you always can do a modification and remove blocking functionality for posted journals but it is not a simple one because this code is shared for all general journals in the system and will require a lot of efforts to test it. Also there is some code that updates amounts on the journal header each time you close lines, irrespective of posted status of the journal, so you will probably need to modify this as well.
