Hoping someone can help. The last time we upgraded Dynamics to GP 2010, Microsoft provided us with a disc for SQL Server 2008. Now that we need to upgrade to GP 2015, SQl Server 2014 is a requirement.
1) Do we purchase SQL server 2014 from Microsoft?
2) Does Microsoft provide one as we are on a service plan?
3) Our registered modules show SQL server 2012 however we never received a copy..
Can someone provide some direction? Appreciate the help
Thanks

Thanks Beat. The scramble is definitely on. Extended support for GP 10 is till October 2017
I see that you're currently running on GP 10.0..
be careful about your upgrade path in case that's what you're looking for.. This version is not supported by Microsoft anymore and you'd have to go at least up to 2013R2 to be on valid support..
For 2013R2, SQL 2014 is the last supported version.. (but you can also use SQL 2012).

There are quite a few threads on this forum about the upgrade path:

just do a quick search
Support tickets with Microsoft now cost $499 so I would not spend the money. Are you current on maintenance? If you are, you are entitled to SQL Server 2016 Standard Runtime. Send me a private message and we can discuss options.
In the company profile -- registered modules it shows SQL Server 2012 standard Edition
Thanks for the link. Unfortunately we have not had a partner for years. It is a small company with 4 users and I have done the upgrades over the years. Should I open a support ticket with Microsoft?
If your GP license includes SQL Runtime then you can have your reseller login to PartnerSource and download the runtime version.
Normally for our clients we log into PartnerSource from their server and download the desired version of SQL. Microsoft has not provided physical media in years. If you do not have SQL on your license you can certainly add it.
What edition of SQL 2008 are you currently running? Where is the reference to SQL Server 2012?
I think there is a runtime edition of SQL 2014 which I believe doesn't require a separate license purchase.

Kirk
