POS Authentication - password expiry

Hi

I wonder if anyone may be able to help with providing an easy answer on this one, within D365 Finance & Operations, there is the setting for 'password expiry' in days.

If Joe Bloggs has changed his password on the 6th June 2020, and at the time of him changing his password the password expiry was set to 200 days, if I now change this to 100 days, will his password expire in 100 days from the day I set the policy, or will it be 100 days from the date he last changed his password, or would it be 200 days as he changed his password when this was the policy set ?

Thanks,

James

Are you referring to password for Point of Sale or HQ ?  for point of sale thre is no expiration policy .
but for HQ has , because its using Active Directory authentication.
    Refer : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/authentication/concept-sspr-policy

    Thanks ,

    Hi,

I'm referring to the POS password for when someone logs on as a worker, we currently have a password expiry set to 200 days within Retail Parameters > POS Authentication, but would like to modify this.

    Thanks

    Hi shadowwebs,

In the code, it shows we check whether the password is expired based on the channel configuration during authorization; and it is based on the last password change date and the current parameter setting.  It is not based on when the parameter was changed or what it was when the password changed.

In your example, this would be 100 days (current parameter value) after June 6th (last password change date).

If this answers your question, please mark this as answered.

    Thank you in advance.

I checked this one. If my memory is good, it just calculate the days from the last time the user changed the password. If the user changed password today while expiry was set at 200 and if you change the password expiry policy to 100 tomorrow. The password will expire on 100th day from today.

I hope i dint confuse you.
