Open in Excel keeps disappearing frequently

Hi,

Open in Excel keeps disappearing frequently. Then I follow multiple steps and one of them seems to fix it but I don't know which one:

1. Reload system Templates in Org Administration > Setup > Office Integration > Document Templates

2. Reinitialize App parameters. Sys Administration > Setup > Office App parameters.

As you can see below the open in excel is not there although I haven't done any change to the system regarding it:

What is the reason it keeps disappearing? Is it the auto enforced update of UAT and Prod environments by Microsoft when the version is below 2 version?

And what is the fix?

Update1: Although I found out now that it's visible in the other drop down but not in the above.

Update2: I tried opening the General Journal line entry and this is the error I'm getting:

Please connect to the internet to use Open in Excel.

Update3: Getting this error when try to reinitialize:

    Is this a cloud instance or are you running on-premise? Did it work before without issues?

    This is cloud instance. I checked after sometime and one of the steps that I performed above in the question seemed to resolve the issue. Now I can see the options. But which step it was I am not sure.

    I suspect it is related to Environment Refresh actions. And that Sys Administration > Setup > Office App parameters > Reinitialize seems to fix the issue. But would be helpful if there's any official documentation for this.

    I will confirm once I notice it again just before&after the Env Refresh action.

    JackTurner90 I haven't faced this issue for long now. I just used to do couple of steps that I have mentioned in the Question and some of it did the job sometimes and not other times. It would be trial and error. Or else you can raise a ticket to microsoft on LCS.

    Having the same issue. Totally sporadic.

    Also having the same issue for different users at different times. No updates performed in our PROD where this occurs. It magically fixes itself during night hours, so the next day everything is working again. For one user we logged of D365F, opened an InPrivate browser session and logged in, then the "Open in Excel" function was available. The user then logged of and opened a "normal" browser session, then everything worked as it should. Curios on the reasaon for this behavior.

    system administration > setup > client performance options
    make sure that the checkbox "internet connectivity enabled" is activated
