Cannot edit a record in Hierarchy tree (HierarchyTreeTable). The record has never been selected.. ISSUE in Project WBS

Hi ,

Am facing an issue in Project Management - WBS. Scenario listed below - 

  1. Created a Project with WBS and Published.
  2. Transferred to Forecast and Budget and Approved.
  3. Actuals recorded.
  4. Wanted to add few changes of additional activities with cost estimates. Here is the issue - 
    1. When i edit WBS and Make changes and then publish - am facing the error "Cannot edit a record in Hierarchy tree (HierarchyTreeTable). The record has never been selected..
    2. Even when i change the published WBS to edit and when i tried republishing without any change, am facing the same issue.

When we checked the table, the line available in projplanversion doesn't have the hierarchytreetablerefrecid for 2 lines. How can this be sorted. I even tried to delete and recreate the line, but system is not allowing the publish as i have actuals recorded against the activity.

Can i get a solution on this? The technical team is not able to fix this.

    Hi Deepa,

    This error occurs when an update or delete on a table is performed without first selecting the record. Is there any custom code in the work breakdown structure?

    Hi Arunraj,

    There is no custom code in WBS.

    As i understand from the client, they have done some changes and published the wbs previously. And now to reupdate with required changes, system is not allowing.

    How can this be sorted?

    Which version do you have? Can you create new wbs and publish them without any problems? If the problem only occurs on previously created wbs, an x++ script to update the missing reference recid can be written.

    Version 42.

    I tried with new project and WBS. It worked fine as well.

    How can this be fixed with x++script?

    Sorry, without knowing the data in the database, I am unable to assist you with the script. By using debugger, the developer could locate the missing recid reference and update them

    Hi Arun,

    I am unable to fetch the reference as the line is missing in the Hierarchy table but the same is available in the projplanversion table. How can i bring the line in the hierarchy table which acts as the source for projplanversion?

    Hi Gopinath,

    Does the table smmactivites contain any records? How many records in the heirarchy table are missing the reference records?
