I’ve been looking into the "Related Product" feature under Released Product/ Product Action Pane/ Setup/ Related Product in Dynamics 365 F&O, but I’m not sure what it’s actually used for.
Has anyone used this in a real-life scenario? It’d be great if you could explain it with an example.
As the name suggests, this "Related Products" functionality is used to build a relationship among different products, there can be as many relationships as your business allows. E.g.:
Same products manufactured by different companies (A medicine of same formula manufactured by different pharmaceutical companies)
A main product with its mandatory and optional accessories (Controllers and Gaming consoles)
Frequently bought together (Monitors with Laptops)
Or as you often see on different marketplaces: “Customers who bought this also bought this”
These relationships are pretty broad. They can be upgrades, additions, or even cheaper replacements of the original products.
Uses: Best use of this functionality is for the Sales & Marketing and Retail teams. They can use this related products option at the time of Selling an item in order to prompt the customer for something extra by up-selling or cross-selling.
Another functionality could be an E-commerce website linked to the D365FO system. The order page can recommend the Related Products and boost the customer exposure to other related products as well.
