Account cascading behavior

Hi

In CRM if i change the owner of an account it also changes the owner of all the opportunities for that account. I know this can be stopped but where and how? im looking at the account entity at the 1:N relationship and looking for related entity is opportunity and there is two relationships there.

How exactly do i change this so that this never happens again?

Thousands of accounts got re-assigned to different owners, so all the opportunities did to. Also, is there anyway of "undoing" this to set the owners back to who it was originally? unfortunately auditing wasn't enabled either...

    Hi.

    1. Go to SETTINGS

    2. Go to CUSTOMIZATIONS

    3. Go to CUSTOMIZE THE SYSTEM

    4. Now ENTITES - Account

    5. Click on 1:n Relationship

    6. Change sorting to "Related Entity"

    7. Search for related entity cases

What are the "Type of Behaviors"?

You will find two 1:N relationships on the account entity to the opportunity.

One is called opportunity_parent_account and has referential type behaviour. This one is set to cascade none so isn't your problem one.

The other is called opportunity_customer_accounts and is by default parental. This will do a cascade all. This is causing your problem.

You can change this one to be cascading configurable. Then change the assign cascade behaviour as required.  Cascade none for example. (If you wish to always leave the opportunity ownership unchanged when the account ownership changes.)

In response to your second question about can the change be "undone". The answer is probably not. As you won't know who previously owned the opportunity.

Unless the person who created it is the person who needs to be the owner. (Long shot maybe!)
