Business Portal Upgrade from 4.0.2475.0 to 6.1 on GP2013 R2

HI,

we are upgrading Business portal for GP10 SP2 to Business Portal 6.1.

The new version of BP will be on a new server (Server 2012) with a fresh install of Share Point and Businesses Portal.

The customer is only using requisition management and have no modified web pages.

In the upgrade guide it only mentions upgrading from BP 5.0 or 5.1 although I have read elsewhere that it will upgrade from BP4 with SP2.

Can someone confirm that this upgrade path is OK and that a fresh install and upgrade will keep things like Approval Hierarchies etc.

    Hi Anthony,

    It can be upgraded from BP 4.0 SP2 to BP 6.1.

    The key points for BP 6.1

    1. Business Portal 6.1 it only supports 64Bit.

    2. Business Portal 6.1 it only supports SharePoint Server 2013 or SharePoint Foundation 2013.

    Anthony,

    If you are not upgrading your SharePoint content (which I'm assuming based on your comment about a fresh install of SharePoint), you can upgrade directly to BP 6.1.  If you want to upgrade your SharePoint content, you would need to upgrade GP, SharePoint, and BP to BP 5.1, and then you'd need to take the same steps to get to BP 6.1.

    It will be a fresh install of Share Point 2013 as there is no content we need to keep.

    Anthony,

    Did you succeed in your upgrade. I am having the same challenge. I upgraded my gp 10 to 2013 r2. But after configuring sharepoint foundation 2013 sp1 and also successfully installing webservice for gp 2013, I installed the portal and after entering the credentials together will the dynamics Database, its giving an error on incompatibility and cannot go past there. I dont want to maintain the content. Kindly advise on how i cant go past this standoff.
