Buy X and get Y for Z...setting up for entire department/category

Posted on by 60
I know how to set up a sale for a large group of items using the Inventory wizard>Change Item Prices>Filter. And I know how to set up a "Buy X and get Y for Z" discount schedule for any item. How would I apply this (buy x get y) discount schedule to all items in a specific department/category (at one time)? Surely, I shouldn't have to go into each individual item's properties to set the discount one at a time???

You should implement the Retail Realm Store and (if you have HQ) HQ Utilities. One of the basic functions in them are the Advanced Item Wizards, which enables you to filter and then bring every field on the item card out into an Excel-type sheet for mass changes.

That actually doesn't seem logical...or I'm trying to go about it the wrong way. I have a promotional sale that a certain brand of posters are all "Buy 2 get 1 Free". There are over 50 different SKUs in this brand/line of posters. So I must go into each of these 50+ SKUs to individually set this discount?

The option for the X and Y discount isn't limited to a single department or category and therefore the user needs to go into the individual item properties to validate it. If your intent was to create a format to allow both X and Y to be  from the same department or category in bulk like a sale?

That isn't by design how it works or was intended to work. It can't be performed through a setting in the front end of RMS, it may be possible to configure an SQL statement just for you to do that, but you'll need to create a case with Microsoft to have them develop and test it for you.

I hope that effectively answers your question.
