Fatal Error 615 dropping MS CRM 2016 Database

As part of our device change of ownership i.e. when one Sales Rep leaves and new one takes over their device.  We have to drop the CRM Database off the original owner so the new owner can take ownership of the database.  When we run the 'drop database mscrm_msde' command then type Go we get 'Fatal Error 615 occurred' contact your administrator.  We are using MS Dynamics CRM 2016 local client install with offline component with Windows 8.1

    Hi WendiMGood,

Any reason why you wouldn't setup CRM on a server and use Service Accounts to run the system instead of dropping databases?  There are other ways to secure the data in CRM, such as Business Units and Security Roles.

Hi Nadeeja, thank you, we do have CRM setup on our main server, and because our sales reps work remotely offline they need to have the Client installed locally so they can work offline, then when back in wifi range they sync back on line to the main server.  We also have a number of office based staff who work directly through the web based client portal on our server. This drop database process has worked perfectly on MS CRM 2010 with Office 2013 n the past.

    Hi Wendi,

So, you are using Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2016 for Microsoft Office Outlook?

I still don't get why you need to drop the CRM database?  You can simply disable to user in AD and create a new user in AD and let them login to the PC/Laptop using new credentials.  Add the new user to relevant security groups, teams, business units.

Correct sorry should have mentioned that part re Ms Office 2013 Outlook with CRM 2016 Client.  The old user is still here she had a promotion and has a new device so not required to be disabled.

    Hi Wendi,

Since the data are stored on a server, regardless of the machine the user use, the data will be the same.  In your scenario, the user who got a promotion, can install the Outlook Client on the new device and she can login and continue her work.

You can give the old device to a different user and since they use their own login, they'll see what's relevant or them.

I know you have been dropping the databases previously, but I don't see why you would do it.
