Help!!  I was editing a GP report and apparently it did not like the field I used ... and locked up my PC ... Now I keep getting this message ... and I cannot run any reports ... and I cannot access the payables module of GP ... Other users can ... so it is only limited to my user ... and if i look at my processes the below screen shot will show the processes running ... and I am not sure how to stop them so I can move on .... I also restarted my computer and killed everything with Task Manager --- and get the same results.

ID/PC.

    Hi,

I think the GP application is stuck, please end task the GP and log back.

You likely need assistance from your IT group or whomever administers your GP/SQL Server.

Sorry MDI I haven't gone through your post fully.  I had a similar situation and following KB helped me.  Please have a look at the following.

    Hi,

I could not see any screenshot in your post. If you paste a screenshot in the Rich Text Editor, it has been my experience that it doesn't present. I've always had to add it from a file.

I've done extensive work with Report Writer over the years and have troubleshot many a problem. I know there are many on the forum who have been down that road, but I'll tell you about my path to solving the problem.

If you edited a report in Report Writer and it is unhappy about it, you first need to determine if the report is really a problem by changing your Alternate/Modified forms and reports to point to the original report. It would be a good idea to create a new Alternate/Modified forms and reports ID just for yourself so that you do not change it for other users who might be assigned to that ID.Here's how I troubleshoot suspected Report Writer problems:

    1. Export the suspect modified report to a package file

    2. Make sure your Dynamics.set file is pointing to your local drive so that you do not interfere with your production dictionaries. Do not copy the existing Reports.dic to your machine, we're going to create a new one.

    3. Create a new Alternate/Modified forms and reports ID and assign it to yourself.

    4. Make sure the Alt/Mod ID is pointing to the unmodified version of the report

    5. Print the report.

    6. Import the package file of your modified report.

    7. Change security to point to the modified report.

    8. Print the report

At this point you will have much information about what is really causing the problem. If you choose to go down this road, please report back with your findings.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
