Entering Quantities by Calculation on Numeric Fields

Hello

I have created an AL Code  page extension with some decimal and integer fields.  I am finding I cannot enter an expression like 2*60  or 60+60 into the field - doing so generates a UI  error that the entry cannot be evaluated into an integer or decimal value.  On many fields such as quantities in Sales order Lines, entering such expressions works.  Any ideas what I am doing or not doing to enable entering quantities by calculation in my own numeric fields

Many thanks

Rhodri

You can only use expressions with fields of the decimal data type, not with the integer data type.

Let me know if you find a way to do this with the integer data type.

    Hi, good day

You could copy or check the standard quantity field and see that it is the same as yours.

Business Central doesn’t natively allow direct expression evaluation in custom fields. However, you can achieve this by implementing a custom validation also Use a Calculated Field Approach.

    Thanks
