No option to create an invoice document

Hello,

I'm tech support for a small company who doesn't use Dynamics everyday but tries to support it. Normally I can figure most of the requests out but I'm having trouble with this seemingly simple request.

Today, one of the users walked into my office and showed me a instruction set that showed them how to create a Invoice Entry yet this option is seemingly not available with the companies they are working with within Dynamics. However, I do see the option listed within Fabrikam as illustrated below.

My question is what needs to be done to enable this functionality? Are there perhaps prerequisites that I am missing somewhere?

If the module was not activated it's probably for a reason. Please don't just activate it without further discussion!!

Most companies DO NOT use the "Invoicing" module as it is very limiting and instead use the SOP (Sales Order Processing) module.

If you turn it on and people start using it, while others have been using other modules for invoicing, there is a lot of potential for a big mess and a lot of confusion. Please have a discussion with someone that has more details first.

Hi,

Please try out the solution suggested by Matt.

Only reason for any menu not available in additional company for SA user also will be due to Not Registered.

And secondly, Invoice can be entered anywhere under Sales Menu on Sales Transaction Entry, Invoicing Entry, Receivables Transaction Entry.

Among above 3 windows, Sales Transaction Entry and Invoicing Entry window will have option to enter Line Item (option to select Item).

Is the Invoicing module active (checked) in the Registration window (Tools >> Setup >> System >> Registration)? Look for Invoicing.

Even if it's unchecked it will show in Fabrikam. If it's not checked, are you sure it's the Invoice Entry window you are looking for? There's 3 flavors to entering an invoice to a customer in the Sales area. Sales Transaction Entry, Invoice Entry, and Receivables Transaction Entry. Invoice Entry is the least used in my experience.

Hi Kyle,

Thanks for helping me. I'm logged in as 'sa' and only see the invoice options when I view the Fabrikam company. When I view any other company as 'sa' I do not see the invoice options.

I have confirmed that 'sa' is a power user in all of the companies.

Could this problem be caused by a setting related to the company rather than the user?

Hello,

Do you see the Invoice Entry window if you login to your production company w/ 'sa' or any other user with 'PowerUser' security rights? You can check a user's security under Administration>>Setup>>System>>User Security. If you do see the window w/ a PowerUser, the user that you're currently logged into GP is likely just missing the necessary window security. You'll want to assign a security role that has access to the 'TRX_Sales_011*' security task.
