Cannot add bundle products to a bundle

Hi All,

I am trying to solve an issue for about 3 days now.

I customized the out of the box 'Product' form sometimes back and now I want to add bundle products sub grid into that form again. So I added a sub grid to the 'Product' form and linked it with the 'Product Associations' entity. But I cannot see the + button in the sub grid. I cannot add bundle products even from the navigation menu --> Product Bundles. I am logged in as the system administrator. Is this a problem with permissions or are there any other dependencies that I should add into the solution.

Thanks,

Prasadi

Walkthrough the following blog. It explains deeply:

As the blog explains, I cannot see the 'Bundle' prefix before the bundle name, when I click on the 'Add Bundle' button. Am I lacking something in my solution? Still I can't figure out how to associate 'Product' entity and the 'Product Association' entity. All the documentation are explaining how to create bundles, but not how to configure it within a solution.

    Hi Prasadi,

I performed some tests and this option is not available in the Product form, neither on Product Bundle relationship tab.

However it is possible to associate a product to a bundle through Bundle form, there is a grid productassocaition_items.

    Hi Flavia,

Thanks for the tip. There is a weird issue I am facing. Under the product entity, I cannot see a separate form for bundles. When I click on the 'Add Bundle' button it is redirected to the product form. And also I cannot see the prefix 'Bundle' before product name. How can I add the Bundle form to my solution?

    Thanks in Advance,

    Prasadi

RE: Cannot add bundle products to a bundle

    Hi Prasadi,

    Please try these action plans:

    - Please check if you have any workflow activated for Product entity.

If so, please deactivate it and perform a new test.

    - Perform the same action if you have a business rule or javascript activated on the form.

    - If you are using second language in the personal options, please try to change to base language and perform a new test.

RE: Cannot add bundle products to a bundle

    Hi Flavia,

There was a pre-create plugin on the product entity. I unregistered it and tested. And also there was a javascript function for the form load event. I removed it and tested. But still not working. But as you mentioned earlier am I missing the 'Bundle Form' under my product entity? I feel like this is not working since I am not in the bundle mode. Is there any workaround for that?

    Thanks

This is the definition of the sub-grid on the OOB form, if that is any help:

    Bundle-products-sub_2D00_grid.PNG

I don't know if there is OOB code that manipulates this subgrid directly. There must be something that makes it visible or hidden, but that could be done at tab level. Perhaps something directly influences the appearance of the + button. Just in case, notice the spelling error in the name: productassocaition_items - if your grid has a different name, it might not behave properly. Also note the special view used.

Remember, bundles are just products where Product Structure (option set) = "Product Bundle".

Product Associations are a simple "connecting" entity with 2 lookups to the parent bundle product and the related item product record. I suspect privileges are inherited from Product entity (there are no explicit permissions for ProductAssociation in security roles), so make sure you have Create, Read, Write, Append and Append To on Product.

    Dear Adam,

The 'Add Bundle' button is enabling this sub grid once it is clicked. I changed the sub grid name and the tab name into these values. But still not working. Permission is ok since I am logged in as the System Administrator. It is weird. This should be something related to the 'Add Bundle' button logic. I am close I guess, but still struggling.

    Thank You

RE: Cannot add bundle products to a bundle

We are testing an upgrade from 2015 to 2016, and I have run into this problem as well and have not found an answer. I created a product bundle, and the Product Structure field says it is a product bundle, but the form is presenting itself as a regular Product.

Our 'main' product form has been modified: I removed the javascripts and business rules. I tried adding the associated product subgrid, and it does not have the Add Record "+" icon above it. I tried creating a new main form and it just copies the existing form. I am thinking now I should have left the main form unmodified and used form security to hide it in favor of a copied & modified form for the users.

Has anyone found a solution to getting the product bundle behavior to work again?

RE: Cannot add bundle products to a bundle

I believe I found the answer: Our solution file was upgraded from 2011, and back in CRM 2013, Microsoft introduced some new Layouts. For customers using customized forms, this created a problem for MS in that the new layouts would have disrupted the customers environment, so the CRM upgrade just created an inactive version of the new form in the solution file, but it also added a new "Merge Forms" button in the Form Editor ribbon. This button will merge the new (inactive) form with your current form. This TechNet article will do the subject more justice [View:https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn531188.aspx:750:50], and if you want to get a much better understanding, Joe CRM has a fantastic blog post on it here: [View:http://www.powerobjects.com/2014/07/25/performing-form-merges-like-pro-dynamics-crm-2013/:750:50]
