Change the created on date

Hello,

So, I have a bunch of data that was stored in a spreadsheet and I need to import it into "Leads", but have it reflect the "Created on" date that is has on the spreadsheet.

I can find guides, I have updated the security permission to allow me to override the date.  For some reason though I cannot seem to get the created on date to change what so ever.

Possible I'm doing it in the wrong order?

I either import a new record from scratch with what ever date I want, and all is well?

Or

I upload it normally, then export it, alter the date, import with "Allow duplicates" ticket?

Either way I do not see  the date changing.

Many thanks

David

The field you need to load to is the "OverridCreatedOn" field.  you can't write directly to the CreatedOn field, but that override will do it for you when you load data.

Ahh I see!  I was trying to just type over the "created on" field.  So I export them, but add the fields "OverridCreatedOn" into the export.

Then update THAT field?  That in turn alters the "Created on"?

Exactly.  There is also an "OverrideCreatedBy" field if you need to keep record attribution between systems.

Ok, forgive me I am no doubt missing it, but.....When I export existing data.  I need to add this field?

    I cannot see  "OverridCreatedOn" anywhere.

If you're using an Excel template, you can literally add fields to the header.  As long as you get the name right, it will map back in.

I see.  So add the column / header and it should map to that very field.  I'll try that now.

OK, I'm definitely getting this wrong then.  I exported a test bit of data, then added a column like so:

    537877.Capture.PNG

Then attempted to upload it, there is no field to map it to, there is no match:

    537877.Capture.PNG

I think you'll need to use the Display name, which would be "Override Created On" with the space.

Honestly, I haven't tried using the override fields in anything other than through Scribe or an API.  It may not work using the Excel templates.

    Hi,

Add this field to the view, it will be easier. It's definitely there:

    Hi Pawel,

Just as you posted, I had already found it.  So I added to a view then exported a few existing leads.  So I Put a new date into "Record created on", then uploaded them.

The upload took no issues.  Nothing changed though date wise.

    Very confused.
