Running Full GP 2015 Client from a remote server farm

As far as I know is the server is located remotely you have to run the GP silverlight client or remote desktop services and most remote connections are not fast or reliable enough to to use  windows client and ODBC.

Has anyone ever  used a Full GP 2015 Client from a remote server farm

The IT people at one of our clients sites think this is Ok but we have our doubts

Running desktop client remote from the SQL Server is not supported. There is a lot of traffic between the client and the SQL Server so a very fast connection (both up and down) would be needed for this to work.

We do have one client doing this at the moment, but they only have two users using the desktop client, the others all log in using the web client. This is not something we have recommended they do, but is being done as there are web client problems they are struggling with at the moment (they have two joined domains which is not working correctly).

Yes, we are using Terminal Services and it works just fine. It will be of 2 layers, First using the Gateway server for users to connect from outside the network and then GW server will redirect to the actual GP Terminal server automatically. Ours is load balanced, so GW will decide which server to connect to.

You can configure it in such a way that you can just place the GP Remote app Icon on users desktop and make it look like it is a local desktop installation. In case if they want to access the files from the network, then you can place the RDC icon as well.

make sure that the Terminal server has enough memory and CPU config.

And we are rolling out the Web Client as well.
