Hi,
After installing GP 10 when we launch the product we get an error on the task bar at the bottom of the screen, If we close the error we can then log in GP. However time GP launchs it pop up screen we get the same error?

Hi All,
Turns out the issue was cause by a Dell printer, the 2 machines we installed on with this issue had the same dell printer. When we changed the default printer the error cleared, Used this solution from MS to fix:

Try logging on as another user that has admin rights, to the computer that is receiving the error. Rename the user who is experiencing the issue's profile folder to something else (example: My login is RWILSON so in the user's folders there is a folder for RWILSON. Rename this folder to RWILSON.BAK). Now log back into the computer with the user's who is having the issues and the profile will be rebuilt. See if that fixes the problem.
If you tell me what OS you are running I will tell you where the user profiles are located.
One other thing, depending on how your IT department runs things, there may be some information in the user profile that needs to be backed up (i.e. IE favorites, Outlook .pst, etc). I would check with them before renaming the user folder.

The pop up screen says:
Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.
I have removed and reinstalled but with no luck, however if I log onto the machine as a different user GP lauchs fine. If I goto another machine and log on as the user thats profiles seems to have the problem the GP will also launch fine. So the problems seems to be THE USER on this ONE MACHINE?

Please give us the exact contents of this window.
Now, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling?
Also, a little known trick, after installing, copy a successful installation from another workstation. The paths must be exactly the same. You copy the entire contents of the GP folder and all subfolders to the new workstation. Delete the original contents of the GP folder off the target workstation before, of course.

You could try to delete and recreate ODBC and also run GP Utilities again.
Have you installed Service Pack? You could try installing before running GP Utilities.

Hi,
it is the client install, had already installed on 3 others machines with no issues, and the odbc was set up.
The error happens when we try and launch gp, the pop up window opens with the the details of GP but then just hangs there. The only error we see is an ERROR! message appearing in the task bar(there is no details of the error) if we close the window the GP app. will then launch but everytime the pop up window launchs we get the same problem

Is this the first install of GP? Typically this is referred to as the Server Install. Have you created an ODBC connection to the database? And when you try to log in, are you selecting the ODBC name as the "Server Name" in the GP Logon window?
What is the exact error message you are receiving?
