Handling Multi-Component Products in Advanced Warehousing

We are encountering a packing challenge with D365 Advanced Warehousing and require assistance. Our product includes four components that arrive from our suppliers without barcodes under one primary part number. These components are currently stored in one location within the warehouse. When there is a pick, the pickers need to go to this location, pick the goods, and sell them as one item. Currently, the pickers do this manually based on where it's stored; they need to pick all four components based on where it's stored.

Simply put, we have one part number made up of these four components. When we place an order, we use this single primary part number, but we receive four separate boxes that need to be stored in different warehouse locations. All four components need to be picked and sold as one unit (the items, in theory, will not be in one location due to their size and will be spread across the warehouse), hence the issue.

Challenges:

  • Efficiently managing the storage and picking process for these components.

Questions:

  1. What is the best practice for handling multi-component products in D365 Advanced Warehousing?
  2. Are there any other recommended solutions or configurations within D365 to manage this scenario effectively?

Your insights and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
