Extended Datatype at runtime

Posted on by 5,124

hello Experts.  Is there a way to set the ExtendedDatatype property of a Text field in a Page at run time?  I.e., I may want to set the extendeddatatype = Masked for column A (text data type) if it meets a certain criteria.  otherwise, I just want to set the extendedatatype=None.  Suggestions?

One other thing you could try is Add-in Control  or create a column based on the variable where you can control what value to display.

HI Suresh,  I did play with it but I am afraid I can't work on visibility of the field as the masked/unmasked property of a specific field is not the same for every single row.  One row may need to use masked property, but another may not need it.  If I work on visibility, I believe it's column specific.

Since the consensus from everyone so far is 'it's not possible', then I guess I can just forget about the masked property and just mimic that as a text field so if a specific row passes the criteria, then this var text field will have '****' value.  If not, then show actual value in the var text field.

As I know it is not possible, however you can try Suresh's suggestion to achieve your goal.

No, it is not possible currently but i think you create two fields one with masked and one without and make one of the fields visible based on your criteria.

    Hi Mbr,

In my opinion, it is impossible.
