MRP is not generating planned orders based on the reorder point in GP2010

We recently upgraded from GP 9 to GP 2010.  Under GP 9 when an Item dropped below the order point, MRP would create a planned order for the difference between the on hand quantity and the order point as well as apply any other applicable order rules.  We then have are report that picks up all the planned orders for the week and initiates a purchase order or a Mfg order based on whether its make or buy.   It's been about a month since we converted over to GP 2010 and we just noticed that neither the make or buy items that are below the order point are generating any planned orders in MRP.

These items have the same planning parameters that were setup in GP 9.  I looked for a setup parameter on this, but didn't see any thing.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Thanks!!

Check the exclusion list.  Also, starting in GP 10, the reorder info needs to be on the item/site record not intial values.   Double check that.   Check out KB 950696 if you have access to customer source.  It is a KB outlining all the new MRP functionality that came out in GP 10.

    Dan,

The items themselves are in MRP, but the Projected Avail Balance is going to zero before generating a planned order instead of when it drops below the reorder point quantity.  Also, the Order Rules themselves are set on the site for each Item, we had to do that in GP 9 to make MRP work properly.

Thanks for the note on KB 950696, I'll look at it.

If they show in MRP, I am not sure why it is going to 0 before making a suggestion.   What is your order policy?  It sounds like you have the Order Point Qty field populated.

The order policy for items having this problem is both "Lot for Lot" and "Period Order Policy".  Most of our items have an order point.

I would probably contact your partner and have them contact Microsoft or contact Microsoft directly.   I have not seen MRP not calculate correctly.   It is generally an all or nothing situation where if it is planned, it works.   If it is not planned, one of the 'switches' is not set correctly.      I cannot think of what would cause it to go below the order point qty and not suggest a replenishment.   Any customs or 3rd party apps in the item resource, item vendor areas?   That is my only other thought.

We had the same problem after upgrading to v10.  I had to run a SQL script to update the Order up to Level for every item.  We updated to the (reorder point + minimum order qty).

Thanks Tim!!  That would make sense.   I had not run across that one.
