We would like to have field on Purchase or Sales order lines showing that if an item is Batch or Serial controlled (tracking dimension). Just wanted to ask if anyone has a recommendation to achieve that without requiring customization.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Karan,

Yes you can archive the same without customization if you are using AX or D365.

Ask your technical / functional team to enable the batch or serial controlled fields as mandatory in both purchase or sales order lines.

This will trigger user to mandatorily fill when the orders are raised.

    or

    Simple solution:

"Train" the users to enable the dimensions in order lines. if there is no batch or serial enabled field shall be grayed out.

Below images sample have take an item with batch enabled, where you can see the batch is allowed to fill and serial is grayed out.

    Hi Avinash,

    Thanks for your response.

I am aware of those fields to populate batch or serial number information in PO/SO lines, and these are setup as mandatory fields. However, what I was trying to ask is if there is way to display a text value to show which one is batch, serial, or expiry item.

For example, 'Batch number' field will be enabled for both batch and expiry items but user will not be able to identify if the item is batch or expiry.

    Hi Karan,

can we know which version you are using, so can check an let you know precisely.

As far as I know there is no option in any version to display the value which is asked. You need to achieve via customization or workaround.
