On assemble to stock for production orders, is it most common to have a open shop floor code for all finished good assemblies, then do a item reclassifcation or transfer to the bin storage location you are storing it it's an assembly for stock?
while BC offers flexibility in how warehouse tasks for assembly orders are managed, but the system's functionality must align with the setup and configuration of the warehouse within BC. The warehouse setup defines how the system behaves in terms of inventory movements and processing. e.g. if user set the warehouse pick mandatory for assembly order, the location must be set up require warehouse pick and bin mandatory as well. Otherwise, it won't function properly. This enhancement actually add more complexity to the setup of location in my opinion.
With the latest version of BC they have added more warehouse controls on the Location Card. This means even if the rest of your warehouse requirements are OFF, you can still add warehouse requirements to specific processes. Look on the Location > Warehouse tab for what options you have set. Then in a sandbox environment, test different settings to get your desired process flow.

I'm re-wording the question a bit to ensure we're talking about the same thing:
On Make-to-Stock production orders, is it most common to have an open shop floor code for all finished good Items, then do an item reclassification or transfer to the bin storage location you are storing the Item in?
If you are using Bins, then yes, you would likely have a "Put-Away" created to take the Item from the production line's output bin to the warehouse storage bin.
