Report Server invalid url

I am trying to get reporting services configured in GP but I keep getting "SSRS invalid url" errors. I am entering it exactly as the manual says, and can navigate to the URL.

I'm using SSRS 2008 R2

    Maclain,

What is the specific url that you're entering for the Report Server URL?  I believe SQL 2008 R2 supports its legacy enpoints, meaning that reportservice2005.asmx and reportservice2006.asmx are still available.

    Thanks

    Rob

    Re: Report Server invalid url

The manual (for v10) references these as:

    http://localhost/ReportServer/reportservice.asmx

    -and-

    http://localhost/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx

Make sure you change "localhost" to the name of your SRS server.

    Maclain and Mike,

What versions of Dynamics GP are you using?  GP 10.0 SP4 supports SQL 2008 R2.

You will need to adjust your URL for the SQL version as I mention above.

    Thanks

    Rob

    Re: Report Server invalid url

I solved the problem. I thought I could just install SRS and deploy the reports, but that's not the case. For some reason this is not documented at all, or when it's documented there's not enough info, unless i looked in the wrong places. Anyway, here's the steps, assuming you have SRS installed.

    1. Install  Dynamics GP Business Intelligence

This is found on the CD. Navigate to AdProd/SrsRpts, run your computer’s architecture or it won’t work (32-bit or 64-bit)

    2. Run Microsoft SQL Reporting Services Wizard

This is found in Start->All Programs->Microsoft Dynamics->Business Intelligence

Specify the URL of the Report Server. The default is http://servername:port/ReportServer.  To know for sure, open Reporting Services Configuration Manager (start->run, type RSConfigTool), then connect to your instance, click Web Service URL. You’ll see the URL.

    3. Deploy the SRS reports

In GP, Tools->Setup->System->Report Tools Setup, click Reporting Services. In Report Server URL put in the same thing you put in step 3. In Report Manager URL put everything you put in step 3, except replace /ReportServer with /Reports. Now click Deploy Reports.

Note: I was getting an “error 40 – could not connect to remote server” when trying to generate the reports. The problem was the default data sources appeared as “GP2010 R2 – 01” instead of the actual instance name of  "MYCOMPUTER\R2". So I had to go into Report Manager and fix the data sources. Do this by going to http://servername:port/Reports, then click on Data sources, and edit all data sources.
