Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue. I recently set up Visual Studio Professional 2022 with specific extensions (PowerPlatform & D365 FinOps assets). I believe there's a problem with the installation because when I create a simple solution, project, and EDT, I get an error message when trying to build the project.

I managed to set everything up correctly on a VM, but not on my own computer. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Visual Studio, deleting all related files, and even restoring my computer, but nothing has worked. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Creating a development environment on your own machine (rather than using pre-installed VMs from Microsoft) requires you having a
an F&O sandbox environment in Power Platform and connecting to it. You didn't mentioned anything like that, so it seems that you aren't aware of the right process. Check out Install and configure development tools, for instance.

@Martin Dráb hi there! Sorry for the late reply, but when checking the mentioned tab the only thing I am able to see is this:

"VisualStudioIntegration Fatal Error: Unknown Unknown: A fatal error occurred and the build could not be completed. Refer to diagnostics details for more information and ensure that the Dynamics 365 Unified Operations platform is deployed properly."

I think that you have a problem either with the F&O extension, or the project, not with Visual Studio as such.

Hi Marina,

Looks like you are trying to set up an unified developer environment and to do so you need to do the following:

1. Setup the D365 F&O add-ins in Power Platform admin center.

2. Ensure you connect to the power platform admin center and setup the Environments (D365 UDE Environment) you need to connect to in the Power platform admin center.

3. Based on this, connect to the dataverse in VS 2022, otherwise the project and the related D365 FO components won't work.

Note: Check the D365 database capacity being used through the PowerPlatform Admin center and based on the same, plan for the UDE environment setup.

Addtionally, there are pre-built virtual machines provided by Microsoft with VS 2022 and D365 F&O components if you are looking at a Cloud hosted VM.
