Earnings Code Setup

I am trying to add a pay code to an existing Earnings Code in the Earnings Setup window.  I can add the pay code, but when I save it, the error says

'You cannot include a garnishment deduction in this earnings code'

It's definitely a pay code and there are no deductions selected to reduce earnings. 

I can create a new Earnings Code and insert all and then remove the ones I don't want selected and it lets me save it.  I get the message regardless of which pay code I insert.

If I can't add it from within GP, can I add it in SQL?

    Hi Tina,

    I would assume you can add it via SQL but I've never done that, so I'll let someone else address that part.

    In case it can help anyone else answer the question though, just wanted to clarify:

    1. When you created a new earning code, this same error message still occurred? Correct?

    2. Both with your current earning code and your new earnings code, you are getting this error message regardless of which pay code you attempt to add?

    3. And finally, both with the current earning code and the new earning code, if you select insert all, and then remove the unnecessary codes, you are able to successfully save, without receiving this error message?
