Multiple Business units need access to the same accounts

Hi guys,

Sorry if I'm asking stupid questions, I'm a little new to CRM. My company is split into two business units with different product types, but some of our customer are shared between the two units. Previously, only one of the units was using CRM, but now both units have begun using it.

I'm having trouble working out how to get the Accounts to appear for individual sales people from different business units, while keeping activites seperate.

We want to keep duplication to a minimum so our marketing team have an easier time with the accounts.

Is it possible to have accounts appear under 'My Accounts' for sales people who are not the account owner, or in the same business unit?

Kind Regards,

Adam Astles

RE: Multiple Business units need access to the same accounts

Hello Neil, I made some tests and I was wondering why the CRM does not implement the same sharing method also for Products.

It seems there is only a chance to allow the users to see all the products from all the Business Unit or hiding them all.

I cannot understand why there is no chance to share the products the same way the account entity does.

    Any help will be appreciate.

    Thanks

I've gone with modifying the security roles. I still had a bit of work to do on it, but it looks like the ideal solution. Will verify now (sorry for the delay, busy week)/

Yes. There are two ways of achieving this.

    1. Modify the security roles of the users so that they can work with accounts in all business units, but only with activities in their own business unit.

    2. Share the accounts from business unit A with the team of users in business unit B. You could create rules to automate this procedure if necessary.

I would use method 1, but I don't know all your organization's security requirements so it's difficult to say for certain that this is the best method.
