Installation of SQL Server for AX

Hi all,

1. Shall we use SQL Server 2008 R2 for AX2012 R2 Installation

2.We already have AX2009 instance in that server (SQL Server 2008 R2), So there possible to install  AX2012R2 instance, 2012 Db in same server.

Please anyone suggest answers.

    Hi Logendran,

    You can download the system requirements to see if your combination is valid: www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx

    Apart from this: If it is a production environment, I would not install it on the same server(s).

    Thank for reply Mr.Andre,

    Since we go with same server for AX2009 and AX2012 because high availability of resources in that server.. Please provide solution for this

    Hi Logendran,

    Theoreticlly, you can use the same DB server, but it is not recommended performance wise.

    I strongly recommend against doing both.

    Sql 2008 is somewhat long in the tooth - and better to install a fresh SQL 2016 sp2 or later now and avoid a later upgrade.

    If you are looking at a new production instance then it should have its own dedicated server.
