Cannot view all event handlers

Hello all,

I would like to view all the event handlers that belong to the LookUp event on a controller. The problem is that Visual Studio freeze and I just get  message "Visual studio is busy: Microsoft Visual studio is waiting for internal operation to complete." whenever I try to press inside Visual Studio window and never resumes. Has anyone ever encountered this issue?

I have the same question (0)

It seems that I was looking for Events on a control that did not have any, so that was part of the problem.

It would be nice if the search said that instead of just locking up the system, but oh well....

You can use Find references on the form itself. Assuming you follow a suggested naming convention you should find your event handlers easily even if the references list is long.

There is no find references on event handlers in forms.

An unfortunately I can't report it to MS support, since my company does not have a support plan.

Does "find references" work? If yes, you can use that. And you can report to MS support if "find event handlers" doesn't work.

That does not seem to help, just tried on my devbox, and it has not been unresponsive for about 45 minutes, trying to find an event handler for Form DocuView\Design\Tab\Preview\DocuViewerContainer\Events\OnGotFocus

Hi Nikolaos. I just right click on an event in a formcontrol and choose "find event handlers". I thought that's the way to find all event handlers which belong to this certain event and formcontrol.

I'll try to compile all models with "update cross references" and let you know if it worked.

What exactly are you doing to view all the event handlers? Are you using the "Find references"? Or something else?

I recommend compiling all your models with the "Update cross references" checkbox enabled, and restarting your dev server.
