Weighted Average\Weighted Average Date - Include Physical Value

(1) ShareShare

Hi all,

Can someone please answer me why Weighted Average\Weighted Average Date doesn't take into account
the Include Physical Value parametar during the Inventory Recalculation or Inventory Closing procedure?

I found that this is not allowed in the class InventCostItemDim methods load, loadTrans, updateMarking.

Example what I want to achive:

Purchase + Invoice                            15.1.2015 Financial date 10 pcs 50 $
Production order; Picking list Posted 15.1.2015 Physical date -10 pcs -50 $
Purchase + Invoice                            15.1.2015 Financial date 10 pcs 80 $
Purchase + Invoice                            17.1.2015 Financial date 10 pcs 5 $
Production Order; Ending                  17.1.2015

Expected Cost Amount on the Picking list transaction is by me 65 $... (Based on the physical date)...
But system currently calculates based on the end date for picking list line that is 17.1.15 and 45 $

Best Regards,

Andrej

    Hi Andrej,

    This is standard AX.

    Was this helpful?

    Hi Andrej,

One reason Inventory close might not consider issues which are only physically updated is because it is much easier to reverse an issue which is only physically updated than it is to reverse one which is financially updated (in fact, I don't think a financially updated issue can be reversed).

However, I don't know why AX won't consider issues which are only physically updated when the Inventory model group is Weighted average, but it will do if the FIFO or LIFO inventory models are used. Maybe its related to the fact that the weighted average methods create those virtual inventory transactions, but I have no explanation which I am happy with as to why that might be important.

    Hi Andrej,

Several questions at the same time.

Include Physical Value parameter is used in the calculation of the cost price

You can chek it in Inventory manegement>Inquiries>On-hand (last field cost Price)

This cost Price is the dinamic price that AX assign to transactions before executing closing or recalculation process.

Both process make the calculation using financial dates and that´s the reason of the 45 as expected cost. You would have 65 if you close the PO with date 15.1.2015 (I know it is not a real solution).

In my experience I highly recommend using Weighted Average (not date) because is in this way you  only have 1 cost price by period and you can check it (almost easily). With date is almost impossible to trace each cost price by transaction and you will have a lot of issues like this (and AX is not going to help you at all!)

    Best Regards,

    Carlos B.

    Thank you for all answers.

    But I didn't find what I wanted.

    Raised request towards Microsoft.

    Hi Andrej,

when you are checking in the inventory closing the Weighted Average price calculation you can use this as general rule: forget physical date, AX is not going to take it in consideration

You can check all your scenarios and you will notice that all is going to work as you expected.

    Best Regards,

    Carlos B.
