Trade Agreement - the same parameters for dates, qty etc but the same prices posted ?

Hi,

AX2012 R2 CU7 and AX2012 R3 CU9 - by coincidence - today I posted two lines in Trade Agreement journal having the same:

type (Sales Price);

customers (All);

item (the same item);

dates from-to (no dates);

qty (no qty);

site;

warehouse;

but DIFFERENT PRICES ($100 an $120).

Before posting - I started Validation - it warned about overlaps of two lines. Then I posted journal - believing that posting will be cancelled due to validation warnings ! Did I omit some parameter ? How system finds the price ?

I checked that on AX2012 R3 CU9 getting the same result (error).

Has someone met the same issue ? I looked in LCS but I can't find hot-fix for such issue :(

Looking forward for any help/advise

Witold Adamiak

    Hi Witold Adamiak,

    The validation is fine as you have setup two sales price for an item for the same period. As you have mentioned no dates its a conflicting condition and system warn you about the same at the time of validating the lines. However if you continue to post the lines as it is AX will post the journal without any error.

    I have checked this with even with latest version of D365 U8 and its allowing you to post the trade agreement.

    Now AX will not stop you from posting sales price for the same item for the same period as its a common scenario. How this is handled is by the "Find next" check mark in the trade agreement lines.

    Now for the above scenario if the find next is checked the AX will search beyond the first line to see if there are any further sales price lines for this item. After finding the lines AX will consider the lowest price from all the valid lines.

    In the above scenario you will get 100$ on the sales order lines ("Find next" check mark checked)

    If the "find next"check mark is not checked AX will simply take the first valid line for this item. So if in your trade agreement if the line with 120$ price is above the 100$ price line and "Find next" is not checked, you will get 120$ on the sales order.

    So firstly its fine to have overlapping agreement lines beyond the point system prompted you about the overlap but if you continue to post the lines then how and which sales price will be taken on the sales order is handled by the "Find next" check mark.

    So both the lines are valid with no end date as they both are valid today.

    Also it is not recommended to enter trade agreements without from and to dates.
