Management Reporter 2012 numbers off since GP2013 upgrade/FY close. FRx works with GP2013

Recently I installed MR2012 to work with GP2010 in preparation for upgrade to GP2013.  The company was using FRx for reporting.  I imported the FRx reports and made required changes, ran P&Ls and BSs from both systems to compare and everything was ok.  We performed this test since FRx was not compatible with GP2013.

I upgraded the company to GP2013 Labor Day weekend, I also performed FY Year End close (07/01/2012-06/30/2013) the following weekend.

This week we ran the P&Ls for the first time.  The numbers are not even close, revenue $11 million off for month ending 08/2013.

In the MR 2012 config console, I perform refresh on Data Mart Integration Logs and I received errors,

1.  GL Transaction to Fact; Change tracking is not enabled for the following tables:  GL00201, GL10001, 10100, 20000, 30000, To enable incremental reading of data, reconfigure change tracking in the Config Console.

2.  FiscalYearProvider to Fiscal Year (9/13/2013)(errors occured during this operation.

[FiscalYearProvider to Fiscal Year] has encountered an error. Processing will be aborted.  Error text:  Change tracking is not enabled fro the following tables:  SY40101, SY40100.

These errors are only 2 of several but this is the gist of what I am receiving, all errors point to reconfigure Change Tracking.

I click on Reconfigure Change tracking under the ERP Integration, I provide credentials and receive a message, Change tracking was configured successfully but it makes not difference.

The only thing I can find about Change trackings mentions changing it in SQL Server.

One last thing, the client ran all their reports using FRx interfaced with GP2013.  I did install FRx SP12 for compatibility with Win7 and GP2010.  I thought it would not work with GP2013.  Client thinks they spent money for nothing on MR2012.

Thanks for any help.

I appreciate the feedback. I'm glad that the DDM is also working. Was the original report that you used against the DDM a migrated report from FRx?

It's possible that there was a building block that didn't migrate properly into MR resulting in inconsistent data. This is something that may have caused the DDM to return incorrect data.

When you created a new P&L report using the wizard, you would have been using the new building blocks and not the migrated report.

Thanks Keith.  I have resolved all the problems associates with the Change Tracking.  It is strange that prior to end of year processing the MR and FRx test runs produced the same results.  What I discovered by creating a test P&L using the Wizard is that the Datamart connection is pulling correct numbers.  I then compared differences and found that if I used no reporting Tree that the FRx imported defintions pulled in correct numbers for most rows and some additional figures that were not on the FRx generated reports.  Glad to know that the Datamart connection is working.

If the legacy is pulling incorrect data, this is probably something with the data within GP. It would be best to get a case created further assistance.

Keith, sorry for the delay.  I enabled Change Tracking on the DDM database manually in SQL Studio as you suggested.  However I am still receiving errors related to Change Tracking on certain if not all SY and GL Tables.  I checked the Dynamics and company database, Change Tracking is enable on both of them.

Also thanks for the comments on FRx.  I had to install Service Pack 12 to make FRx work with GP2010.  I was told that it was imperative the client had to purchase MGT Reporter and now they think I sold them a bill of goods... Thankfully FRx did work since MR2012 isn't working currently.  They have 70 branches, each receives a monthly P&L in addition to other reports required by Corporate HQ.

Thanks Olly.  I installed the Legacy option for MR but I am still having the same issue.  Installing the Legacy option was definately a needed step though.  However I am still receiving errors related to incremental reading of data.  Please see my answer to Keith below.

Also, on the FRx comment with GP 2013, it isn't officially supported.

Some folks have been able to get this configured and working, but you should move to MR 2012 because FRx with GP 2013 is not supported and will not be developed further should you have any issues with the install or reports.

    Hello,

You certainly install legacy, but we do want folks to start moving to just use the DDM integration for MR. At some point in the future, the legacy provider will no longer be available.

If you'd like to use the DDM, which I would encourage you to do so, I'd recommend the following items:

With the change tracking error you're receiving, you can reconfigure SQL Change Tracking in the MR Config Console. Click the actual DDM under the ERP Integration on the left side and then on the right side, click the 'Reconfigure change tracking' link.  That will go through the GP tables and turn SQL Change Tracking on all the tables that MR reads from.

You can also manually do this by right-clicking the table and selecting Properties.  Then click Change Tracking and set that to True.

It may be worth installing the "Legacy" option for MR to connect to data directly - to see if you can get things running meantime - and give you time to sort the Data Mart issues.
