Hello,
what speaks against installing a Solution Only Marketing App into the Default Environment? The solution only app would be used for development and testing purposes, There is only one PROD environment available, no DEV environment is installed.

The solution only app does not include any of the marketing services. It is meant for development purposes to test integrations etc. If you are hoping to use Marketing on a production environment, you need a paid license which allows the full application with service. Else you won't have a functioning Marketing org on your production environment.
