Dual Write - Products

Good morning,

I'm having some trouble synchronizing Products from CRM to FO using dual write and vice versa. What I would actually like is to create products in CRM and sync to FO, but I cannot get the sync to work either way.

I've tried using the following maps:

  • All products (msdyn_globalproducts) - completes the initial sync from FO to CRM with 289 Upserts and no errors, but no products are listed in CRM. Map enters the running state and does not sync any new products.
  • CDS Released distinct products (products) - Initial sync runs, but does not transfer any products regardless of which is the master. Mapping runs, but doesn't do anything when running.
  • Released Products V2 (msdyn_globalproducts) - Initial sync runs, but does not transfer any products regardless of which is the master. Mapping runs, but doesn't do anything when running.

Does anyone have this working and are able to advise which entity maps they used, or failing that, advise of which entities I should link in a custom map please?

    Hi Phil,

I just managed to sync products in my Tier 1 environment from F&O to CRM by syncing according to white papers here learn.microsoft.com/.../product-mapping in the following order: CDS released distinct products > Released products V2 > All products. Give it a try.

Hi, thank you for your response. I've enabled the mappings in the order that you've suggested and can now sync released products from FO to CRM, but not from CRM to FO.

That's correct, Phil. Straight from the official documentation:

The dual-write table maps for products have been designed to flow data one-way only, in near-real time from finance and operations apps to Dataverse. However, the product infrastructure has been made open to make it bi-directional if required. Although you can customize it, it's at your own risk, as Microsoft does not recommend this approach.

Thank you. As the EcoResReleasedDistinctProductCDSEntity entity is read only, I would assume that best practice is to create a custom map from Released Products V2 to Products or something along those lines?

Yes, you can find more details about dual-write customization best practices here learn.microsoft.com/.../custom-best-practices
