
I want to format some of the data being presented in grids (both home page grids and sub grids). For example, I want probabilities to show a percent sign and I want to format some dates as quarters (e.g. 4/15/2014 = Q4 2014). Now I know there are ways to do this through workflow and/or javascript that will surreptitiously populate a text field on the record so that I can show the appropriate field in the view. But this seems like more work than necessary. It also clutters up the field list that end users see which can be confusing.
I'm exploring using something similar to Bohnnie Maity's conditional formatting solution (xrmadvice.wordpress.com/.../conditional-formatting-for-crm-2013-grids-using-actions), but the unsupported nature of some of it bothers me a little bit (not a lot though).
So the question is: am I missing something that would make formatting much easier? Maybe a supported solution or a native feature?
