MR CU 10 now exports NP rows to excel - why?

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Although I have a fond respect to the new features of CU 10 release and its hot fixes 1 and 2 for Management Reporter 2012 I do not understand why Microsoft have now introduced the functionality to export Non printed (NP) rows to Excel.

1. Set a row with data to use print control NP

2. run report and export to excel

3. The Line that was set to NP is now on the excel file but hidden

Anyone else having this issue.  This issue prevents client on CU 9 or less from upgrading to CU 10 where they use Management Reporter to export reports to excel to integrate with other systems.

We also just ran into this issue with a client.  They are in fact on CU 13 but when they uncheck the box to export formulas - the NP rows are still exported to excel.  Does any one know if this has been fixe beyond CU13 or if it is scheduled to be fixed in a future release?

In CU13 if you uncheck the 'Include formulas' checkbox the NP rows are not exported to Excel.

As of CU10 Management Reporter can export formulas to Excel; as a result non printing rows need to be exported as the formula would include the numbers for non printing rows and Excel can only do so if the row is exported.

There are a number of clients in the same position where they export documents to excel for integration with other systems.  If they do not offer an option to exclude this in the export, the approach looks to be that we need to redesign certain reports so that they export out correctly - i.e. possibly using a linked report etc to get the detail instead of hiding the rows above .

Yeah, I hope they give an option not to export NP to Excel, this is a problem for the users.

    Hello M.Nunes

That's the standard export functionality introduced in CU 10, the Non-printing rows are exported and kept hidden. I am not aware if there is anyway to prevent that, but I don't think so .
