Microsoft Dynamics menu disappearing

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

When I start up GP 2015, the Microsoft Dynamics GP menu (the one that contains links to Smartlist among other items) appears briefly but then is overwritten by the standard menu bar (Transaction/Inquiries/Reports/Cards).  How can I get the GP menu to stay with the others?

    RE: Microsoft Dynamics menu disappearing

    Hi,

If you run Reconcile on all of the System files, make sure the machine you are running it on has all of the modules and products that are used by anyone. One of the reconciliation routines checks security and makes sure all of the Alternate/Modified Forms and Reports that are assigned to users actually exist. If they do not, it corrects that user's security. The other thing I know it does is change the main segment of the account format to the first segment.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

One other thing you can try from within the GP User Interface would be to go to Microsoft Dynamics GP >> Tools >> Utilities >> System >> Reconcile.  In that window, select & insert Initialization Master, Short Bar Master, and Work Menu Master (or you could just do "All"), then click Reconcile.

I'm not certain that will resolve the problem, but it's worth trying!

Jorge is correct. The Microsoft Dynamics GP toolbar cannot even be covered up. When I've had weirdness like this happen, it was because the location of the item was off of the window. Take a look at your SY01402 table. If the button works for anybody, check their settings against your settings and change yours to theirs. I've got a blog post on what the codes mean in that table. You can find it here:

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

I believe the 'Microsoft Dynamics GP' menu item cannot be hidden using the toolbar menu context.

Try right-clicking in an empty area of the toolbar, then select "Customize." In the TOOLBAR CUSTOMIZATION screen, make sure the "Main *" toolbar is selected in the dropdown, then click RESET TOOLBAR.  See it that resolves your issue, and post back if it does not!
