Custom fields in SOP Invoice Template

I am trying to change my SOP Blank Invoice Form to include billing and shipping address lines 4. I have address line 4 in my standard SOP Blank Invoice Form. I have been able to create, modify and print a SOP Blank Invoice template document. But this does not include the option to add address 4. Based on my searching on the Internet, I found that I need to create a template that has a data source that is created from the custom SOP Blank Invoice Form that was created in Report Writer with address line 4. To do so, I printed an invoice using the standard SOP Blank Invoice Form and sent it to a file in the format XML Data File. Then in the SOP Blank Invoice Form Word Template I removed the existing source and added the new source from the XML Data File that I had exported. Then the billing and shipping address lines 4 became available and I was able to pull them onto the template. I saved the template to My Documents. However, when I go to Report Template Maintenance I cannot add the report using the green plus sign. I receive the following error: "The template you selected cannot be added to this import".

I am on Dynamics GP 2010 SP1 and Word 2007. The install of GP and the connector to Word were both made from MDGP2010_DVD_withServicePack1.

How can I get custom fields that are on my standard SOP Blank Invoice Form to appear on my SOP Blank Invoice Form template?

Thank you,

Brenda

    Brenda,

When you are in GP under the Report Template Maintenance Screen, which SOP Blank Invoice Form are you selecting (ie, the original or the modified)?  When you select the report name, the name should have "(Modified)" and once selected, the field Status on the Report Template Maintenance window should reflect Modified.  Then, you should be able to use the green + symbol (that assume that you created a report from the original template already and the modified version is available for selection).  If you are using the modfied version and you are receiving the error, then I am at a loss.  When I created our templates, we were on SP1 and use Office 2007 as well, and I did not experience the issue you are seeing which is why my first thought was about the modified version.

    Best regards,

    Dale

    Glad that was it.

What is really sad is that field and all the others, like country, are missing from the standard out of the box report from MS and all of us have to modify our reports just to pull in all the fields.  Oh well, I guess it forces us to learn the system.
