RMS v2 + Hotfix 40 / Prompt to print a receipt

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi folks,

I'm running RMS v2 + Hotfix 40, is there an option to prompt the clerk to choose whether or not to print a receipt?

Thanks,

...Alex

    Ed,

Follow up question, how can I toggle the printer off permanently?

It seems it turns itself back on if I close and re-launch POS.

If you mean prompt to print a receipt on every sale, run Store Operations Manager, Database, Registers, Register List, select POS lane, Properties, Receipt Printer 1, and change Receipt Printing to 'Print only after asking cashier'. Save change, close POS and go back in. The cashier will now be prompted to print a receipt Yes/No on ever sale. If they answer No in error, they can press Shift-F11 to reprint the last receipt as long as 'Journal receipts' is enabled under Receipt Printer 1.

    Ed, got it!

    Thanks for following up.

Emailing a receipt is not something our "liquor & wine" customers need at this point ;)

There are several addons to email receipts instead of printing them.

    Ed,

Love this idea of disabling the printer and print receipt on demand.

Just to confirm, is it possible to still prompt the clerk to print a receipt though?

You can print on demand by doing this:

Toggle your printer to off( using the Printer Function button or Ctrl-F9).  Then use reprint if you need a receipt  (Shift-F11).  That way you don't get the prompt to print the receipt but can if you need it.
