Workflow assignment user "Work Item owner"

Hi,

Someone can explain me please when I can use a user assignment "Work item Owner" for approval.

I setup a Purchase requisition line, with an assignment “Workflow user” -> “Work item owner”. I get the following error but I don’t understand why ?

   Stopped (error): X++ Exception: This workflow cannot continue processing because no users were retrieved for the current workflow step. Contact your system administrator.

at SysWorkflowServiceProvider-resolveParticipant
SysWorkflowQueue-resume

This requires you to be within a work item context already. On initial assignment you are creating the work item owner. Its not normally very useful for direct assignment, but rather for use in escalation or notifications.

Hi Jonathan,

First of all thanks for your answer. I understood it's not very useful but why we have the possibility ? When I want to use it it's not possible( in error in my case). What I can explain to my customer ;-)

Ok for escalation

But for notifications, we don't have this possibility :

Hi Dona.

I agree, the usage of it in AX is inconsistent. Try to avoid it apart from in escalation. What your actual requirement that the customer is asking for, or are you just curious?

In fact I have to write a user manual to explain how to set workflow configurations but my customer is very curious. I think he will ask me :-)
