Assigning a Word Template to a Specific Customer in Dynamics GP 2013

I'm trying to assign a receivables management word template to a specific customer in the Template Maintenance window. After assigning the template to the company, then clicking to assign to a customer, I add the specific customer and click the check box. Then save. Back on the Template Maintenance screen, it does not show that the customer was assigned - only the company. And when I click back in to the customer, the customer appears but the box is not checked. I can't seem to get the box to stay checked. Any tips on what I might be doing wrong?

    Hi

I can't tell you why - but I can confirm that I get the same behaviour in Fabrikam in 2013 R2.  I hadn't actually tried doing it before - I hadn't needed to.

Can anyone else confirm whether they are experiencing the same thing?  I am doing it based on SOP Blank Invoice Form (modified).  I haven't tried it with other reports.

    Cheers

    Heather

If the customer is shown in the list in the Customer Assignment window then they will receive that template, but only the company is listed on the Template Maintenance window. The purpose of the checkbox next to the customer is to select the items you are going to delete; the box will never be checked when you reopen the Customer Assignment window.

That helps a bit - however, I still am not able to send different templates to different customers. It simply uses whichever template is marked as the default. Currently, I have two templates in the manager. One set as the default for the Test company (with no specific customers assigned to it) and another assigned to the Test company (not as the default) but with a specific customer assigned to it. Whether I pick this specific customer, or a different one, it always uses the 'default' template.

What I'm essentially trying to do is have one template for the majority of my customers, and another for one specific customer that needs some different wording on the invoice. I have not yet been able to utilize different templates for different customers, no matter how I adjust the settings. I've even tried to assign specific customers to BOTH templates and pull them up - no luck. It still just uses the default.

Hi. I have been able to use a default SOP invoice (and packing slip) word template and assigned s specific SOP invoice and packing slip to some customers but only for WORK documents.  I am trying to do the same thing with the SOP historical invoice and return forms but it is always using the "By default" document??? is there a way of making it work for every word templates?

Hi Josee, I am having the same issue and have not found a resolution at this time, did you ever resolve this?

    Thanks,

I'm seeing the same issue as well.....

I'm having the same issue.  My SOP Blank Invoice modified report does select a different Template for a specific class of Clients.  But the SOP Blank History Invoice Form doesn't make that distinction, so When I pull a Template for a historical transaction for the same client, it doesn't pull the same Template.

How can we solve this issue?

Has this been noted by Microsoft as a known issue does anyone know?   I'm getting the same results - I can assign a customer class to a particular template but it only works for the unposted SOP Invoice, not the historical.    Is this fixed in a later version or is there a workaround?

    Thanks.

Youmay findthe solution here.  I guess I forgot to include it here.  Go to the "The problem" section
