Smartlist Builder GP 10 - Simple GoTo - Can't get them to work

I have never been able to get a Go-To working from Smartlist Builder.

Here's the example.  I have a Smartlist Builder Report based on GL Transactions.  I want to open the Transaction Entry Zoom window just like the normal Smartlist does when looking at 'Account Transactions.'

So I pick Go-To's, Go To Form, Dynamics GP, Transaction entry Zoom and set the Journal Entry Number as Journal Entry Number.  I get "The Journal Entry Field can not be set because it is locked."  I get this message on all smartlist bulder reports I try to make Go-To's for (only to go to inquiry screens, haven't tried transactions, but I don't want that anyway).  It makes sense since that is not a field that can be set if I happened to be looking in that inquiry window.

Where am I going wrong?  This has to be simple.  I have even followed the instructions in the SL Builder manual examples and can't get them to work either.

Thanks,

Kevin

Here is the answer from Microsoft, even though it is a different window, it might help others out.

Using a standard Open Form Go To where you open a form and set the key fields (SOP Type and SOP Number) on the form does not work for the SOP_Inquiry window. This is because of a number of reasons:
    1) The key fields are not editable.
    2) The key fields themselves do not have the code to display a record associated with them.
    3) This window needs to know whether it is displaying a record from the Work or History tables.

Because of this the window has a script which needs to be called to open the window. It is called OpenWindow() of form SOP_Inquiry. The Go To functionality within SmartList Builder allows you to call a procedure to open a window, but the script on the SOP_Inquiry form is actually a function and so cannot be called with a procedure Go To.

To allow access to this window we have an Advanced Go To feature which allows access to the Payables, Purchasing, Receivables and Sales Inquiry windows.
    1) When adding your Go To, click on the plus sign and select Advanced Go Tos >> Sales Inquiry
    2) Complete the Description in the Go To header.
    3) Then define where to select the SOP Type and SOP Number Fields from.
    4) Click Save.

Now you will be able to zoom back to the Sales Inquiry window and the Advanced Go To will handle whether the Work or History tables should be used.

Thanks, unfortunately the Advanced GoTo's dont have the options for Financial; just POP, PM, SOP and RM.  I'm going to keep working on it and I wil post when I find out the solution.

I guess there is a limitation on what forms you can use.  The solution that got me to what I wanted was to select "Journal Entry Inquiry" instead of Transaction Entry Zoom and then select 'Set a field value and run field script'

But this didn't really do what I wanted because it was a multicompany SLB report, so the Journal Entry may have been from a company that I was not logged into when I ran the Smartlist.  Going into the Journal Entry Inquiry window for a journal entry number that came from a different company is not going to give me what I need.

    Steve,

I tried to use the advanced go to for the payables trx inquiry.  I have the key fields that the setup requires for doctype and document number in my smartlist that I build; but, I get an error "Document no longer exists in originating module".  What's up with that?

    thanks

    Joe -

I just figured out why this is happening. I was having the same problem with Sales Inquiry.

Make sure the keys in your Smartlist report are only SOP Type and SOP Number. Before I had SOP Type, SOP Number, Document Date and Item Number identified as key fields, and I got the "Document no longer exists..." error when using the Sales Inquiry advanced go to window. Once I removed Document Date and Item Number from the Key Fields list, the go to worked. Hope this helps.

    Laura
