The strange thing is that in the BC Central Administration I find the Microsoft dynamics 365 business central on the left but there is not any instance on the right and I receive this error message.

pastedimage1594719413439v1.png

There is not any instance even in the services panel of windows. But if I enter in the prgram and features in the control panel of windows I find the instance as it was installed.

I try to instal at least 20 times but the result is the same, also in different pc. At moment I try on windows 10 pro.

In the event viewer I see this event repeated:

Product: Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Server -- Error 1920. Service 'Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Server [BC140]' (MicrosoftDynamicsNavServer$BC140) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

BUT I HAVE ADMIN RIGHTS, I try with all user admin.

It's indeed important to unzip the files in a folder with a 'short' name ;-)

Strange error. Do you meet the minimum requirements?

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/deployment/system-requirement-business-central

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/deployment/system-requirement-business-central#server-components-on-premises

Also, try to run the setup with admin rights, so right click on the .exe and select Run as Administrator.

    Thank you for the reply.

    The folder was just "BC43800".

My account logged in windows is domain\administrator and I execute the setup.exe with " as administrator" feature.

    The firewal is disabled.

The installation end with this error:

I'm not so good at Italian ;-)

It seems the service tier is not starting, this can be due to many reasons.

Can it find the database? Can you check, using SQL Management Studio, that the database is there and it's using exactly the same servername and instancename and databasename as defined in the NST settings?

Can you do the installation in multiple steps?

For example, the first time only the database, the second time the service tier and the third time 'the rest'? Then it's easier to see when it goes wrong exactly...

Yes of course, sorry the language of the errors...

    The database is installed correctly.

I made installatione in different steps, but the problem is ever the installation of the server. No problem in other modules.

The instance in a firt time went installed, but it cannot start, so at the end of the installatione, the instance went deleted automatically!

So I don't have nothing to work around in the admin panel of BC

Do you see anything in the windows event log?

Can you create an NST using Powershell:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../New-NAVServerInstance

That way you might get a better error-message.

there is not Business Central Administration shell installed...:-(((

It comes with the server and if the server is not installed...

I do not the reasons of this big problem! Is not the first time I install nav, but everytime it's more complicated and very damaged. I hope don't work anymore with it. I never have experience this problem with other platform and software...

To expensive to give this serial problems for my opinion.

I tell the microsoft support but I receive just normal suggestion.

Now I reclone the pc, but I have serious doubt to get in production this platform.

I see one thing. If I try to install the server with "username" autenthication it fails ever. The only with to install is "windows" authentication. On my pc it work. On the pc in test don't work both! :-(

Usually when this happens your system does not meet the prerequisite requirements, so you might want to double-check that:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/deployment/deploy-single-computer-environment

Windows authentication is the default, but you can also use username/password, but know that that requires SSL:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/deployment/implement-security-certificates-production-environment

    Hello,

First of all, I would remove the previous install completely and then run netsh http show urlacl from a command prompt elevated. The output will give you information which ports are assigned to this new setup for SOAP and OData.

After that, run netsh http delete urlacl url=<<copy from earlier output>>

NOTE: run command prompt with elevated privileges

Then use Control Panel to uninstall URL Rewrite Rule component manually.

After that perform a custom install and ensure parameters are correct including password for NST instance. Save the settings to an xml file so you can review it later and reuse it later. Ensure the account being used is provisioned as a service account.

Best is to ensure you do not yet enable OData and SOAP. You can enable later. First try to get the beast correctly installed.

As a best practice you can connect to the folder containing the product DVD and then run all prerequisite components manually. Restart the computer after these separate installs. It is not necessary typically, but here we are looking at a failed attempt.

Let the community know how far you get.

I just before reclone a fresh pc with windows 10 and sql 2017 exp installed.

After that, with the Microsoft support we made the following steps:

    - disable all the firewall

    - unblock the zip file (right click - properties - unblock)

    - unzip with 7zip the package in a C\temp folder

    - run the setup as administrator

    - select all component exept the outlook and excell modules

    - Select "YES" in enable port firewall, all the ports!

    - You can chouse your sql server and instance. It's not a problem for the installation.

    - LEAVE THE CREDENTIALS TYPE AS WINDOWS!!!

I doubt if an installation goes wrong and then proceeds with the uninstallation everything remains the same. I think that something dirty continues to reside in the operating system ... but I'm not sure, but after countless attempts I preferred to reinstall everything in a new operating system and it works!

    Thanks a lot to everyone

    Bye
