On-Prem Upgrade 8.2 to 9.0 Product Key

Hey,

We are in a process of upgrading our On-Prem CRM Dynamics from 8.2 to 9.0 but are being asked for a Product Key. Where do I find this?

We have a MSDN Enterprise Subscription and we also have CRM Online. The On-Prem instances is for our development team so we would like to have our On-Prem instance to be the same version as the online instances.

I have seen several  mixed answers ranging from a Key should be including and use during install, not true based on my experience. We also read that our CRM 2016 8.2 Product Key should work, also not true. We are currently stuck in the rocess of upgrading our On-Prem instance from 8.2-9.0 and any assistance on how I obtain this product key would be greatly appreciated.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

There is a 90 day key provided in the Details part on the download page at www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx

I don't think anyone has seen a key elsewhere yet (I know it doesn't appear in my list of MSDN or partner subscription options)...

We are having the same issue. We purchased the Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Customer Service and Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Sales licenses, but those are CALs, and there are no product keys for a CAL. I've been reaching out to every dept over at Microsoft, Pre-Sales support, Volume Licenses support etc, but no luck. They claim that (quoting them): "There is no more Server for Dynamics since it was changed to Dynamics 365" and then again "There is no more Server for Dynamics since it was changed to Dynamics 365". However, when we explain to them that there aren't any product keys to be retrieved on the volume licenses portal, they claim that: "CAL products doesn’t not require keys".... I've been going in circles for weeks now. Very frustrating!

The fact remains, that the Dynamics CRM 9.0 install prompts for a key, as you can see from the screenshot below. It accepts the 90 day trial key posted on the download details. The fact also remains that no one at Microsoft can tell me what i need to buy to get this key

    Hi All,

I have just run into the same issue trying to upgrade our current on-premise 2016 environment to v9. Did anyone get a resolution for the upgrade key issue?

Just wanted to update this. Dynamics 9.0 is now available on the VLSC site (if you have an active license). The setup will automatically populate a valid product key during the install.

So here is my case, we installed a v9 software and then migrated v8.2 to v9.

Now we are changing to Splash, and when we are running the installing application i choose to configure the CRM only and it does correctly. When I try to put the CRM 2019 v9 provided key I get the same error message. Should I repair the system? or with configure it would be ok?

any piece of help is more than welcome

    Hi all,

I hope my comments might help you.

we changed from one licenses provider Microsoft gold partner to another. when we tried to verify the new key provided by our new Microsoft gold partner, it said it was an invalid version. And that we have nothing to do.

we tried everything we could with no luck, we checked online to find out what are the possibilities to verify if we have a licensed product or not.

    select * from Configsettings

    SELECT LicenseKey FROM dbo.ConfigSettings

-- you can run either one of the next two or both of them

SELECT NVarCharColumn,* FROM ConfigSettingsProperties where ColumnName like 'License%'

    SELECT NVarCharColumn,* FROM ConfigSettingsProperties

    SELECT  InstallOn,

    DATEADD(d,90,InstallOn) AS ExpiresOn,

    DATEDIFF(d,GETDATE(),DATEADD(d,90,InstallOn)) AS DaysRemaining

    FROM dbo.ConfigSettings

Finally I had my answer in the Nvarcharcolumn!!! there was my key number, the one that probes me we are licensed and we should no worry about it. Of course make sure that you have a SPLA or Volume Licensing agreement and that you pay monthly all your user licenses.
