Fixed asset journal upload using Excel Add-in AX 2012

Dear all,

Could you share the way to upload the Fixed asset journal into AX 2012 using excel add-in?

I found that there are two tables in the Fixed asset journal. Does any one know how to combine these tables (LedgerJournalTrans_Asset, LedgerJournalTrans) ?

Thank in advance,

Thu,

    Hi Thu,

You will have to make a small modification to become able uploading those journals. I would thus recommend that you talk with a developer.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Thu,

As alternative, you can have a look at Data Import Export Framework. This framework is able to read Excel or CSV files into (asset) journals.

    Dear Ludwig,

I need to look for the solution without modification first, so does it mean i could not upload the journal which has more than 1 table?

    Best regards,

    Thu

    Hi André,

Cause our users require to use excel add-in, and the DIEF might need some setup before use it, so we think it would be more difficult for users.

    Best regards,

    Hi Thu,

The problem with the Excel fixed asset upload in a GL journal is that the tables that you have are linked through the recid. As a result, you would have to upload first your journal lines and then do an update to enable the fixed asset tab where you enter the value model and the transaction type. This can be done for example with the help of an event handler, which needs however some development. So it is not possible out of the box.

Therefore, please consider Andre's suggestion to make use of the Data Import Export Framework because this works out of the box.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

in AX2012 Excel add-on is notoriously unstable and lacking in versatility (as you see here)

There is an excellent add-on to 2012 called AtlasXL which gives you solid upload capabilities without any customization.

Personally if I were you I would not bother to try and get the Excel Add-on tool to work...

    Hi Thu,

You can also have a look if a service can be used in this case. technet.microsoft.com/.../hh781102.aspx

I'm not sure if Fixed assets are supported correctly in the Ledger journal service.
